Puraclean GmbH successfully uses the JetMaster process for the gentle intensive cleaning of finned heat exchangers and has considerable advantages in terms of cleaning success, cleaning costs and environmental friendliness. The JetMaster procedure was developed in cooperation with a university in Germany. JetMaster works exclusively with compressed air and small quantities of normal water.
The water is mechanically pre-treated in the device and then fed into the compressed air stream in a special design. The high cleaning power is primarily due to the cavitation effect when the jet hits the surface to be cleaned. This cleaning power can even remove oil and grease without any additives.
JetMaster can also be used in combination with the JetPower system in the cleaning of solar elements of rotor blades of wind turbines or the cleaning of glass and other facades. Since JetMaster works exclusively with compressed air – oil-free compressors or standard compressors with ultra-fine filter attachments are used here – and small amounts of water, the process can also be used in sensitive locations without any environmental impact. JetMaster works mostly in the low pressure range of 2-6 bar.

Cleaning large surfaces with combination JetMaster & JetPower
Our cooperation company, mycon GmbH, has developed the JetPower for large-scale cleaning. JetPower enables rapid cleaning of large-area and heavily soiled finned heat exchangers, condensers, recoolers, table coolers and glass and façade surfaces of all kinds. The JetPower & JetMaster system combination, whose jet impression can be up to one metre in size, also allows large surfaces to be processed cost-effectively. This system also works exclusively with compressed air and water without the use of chemicals.
Finned heat exchangers
Finned heat exchangers are used in many areas e.g. for industrial cooling systems, cooling engines, in refrigerated warehouses and in air conditioning units. They are the most commonly used energy transfer systems.
The global share of the total energy consumed across the world is significant and totals approx. 20%. In developing countries, the energy requirements for air conditioning is rising by about 7% every year. According to forecasts, this growth looks set to continue until the year 2050. Improving the efficiency of these systems by just 5% would have considerable impact when looked at from a global perspective.
Finned heat exchangers quickly become dirty as a result of sand, dust, pollen and other suspended particles in the environment. The dirt forms an insulating layer that has a significant impact on energy efficiency, quickly causing energy costs to rise by 10-20% or more.
Also, the corrosion caused by the soiling reduces the service life of the equipment.
In the past, finned heat exchangers were usually cleaned by spraying chemicals followed by the use of compressed air. The cleaning results of this procedure are often not satisfactory and also pollute the environment or pose a threat to employees.
Another method is to use high-pressure cleaning equipment, usually at a relative low pressure, and with additional chemical cleaning agents. However, the dense water jet can bend the sensitive finns very quickly, especially if the water hits them at an angle, and is also not able to completely penetrate the finned heat exchangers if these are installed at greater depths. The front part does get cleaned, but not all of the inner surfaces. In addition, this method requires a lot more water than our JetMaster method plus the fact that it contains polluting cleaning agents.
Cleaning plate heat exchangers of every type and size
We clean plate heat exchangers of all types and sizes with the PowerMaster system.
The PowerMaster blasting process uses compressed air, small quantities of water and, if necessary, water-soluble abrasives.
For this purpose, an environmentally friendly and water-soluble granulate is injected directly into the compressed air jet. Shortly before the granulate is discharged, it is moistened with water to increase the kinetic energy. The soft granulate does not attack the surface or only very slightly.
Non-dismountable plate heat exchangers are treated by a combination of chemistry and mechanical action.

Shell-and-tube heat exchangers of every type and size
Puraclean GmbH offers non-abrasive tube cleaning with TubeMaster for tubes from 4 to 150mm diameter in Switzerland.
TubeMaster can be used with dry ice or special granulate selected for the respective application for the effective cleaning of exhaust gas heat exchangers and pipes.

TubeMaster is operated with a blasting pressure between 4-10 bar depending on the requirements. The cleaning effect is limited as far as possible to the nozzle area. The process can be used in a closed circuit with filtering. Experience has shown that thorough cleaning with TubeMaster and in particular the possible polishing of the inner tube surfaces result in a greatly improved temperature exchange and thus considerable reductions in energy costs. Experience has shown that a polished inner tube surface also extends operating times until the next cleaning cycle.
TubeMaster cleans dry and can therefore also be used if the use of high-pressure water would lead to damage, e.g. when cleaning sulfur condensers. The use of water would lead to the formation of sulphuric acid, which would also remain during the subsequent process and lead to the destruction of the pipes. However, dry cleaning with brushes or pigs is not always successful here. TubeMaster easily removes stubborn incrustations from tubes in this area as well. The main application of the TubeMaster is in tube bundle heat exchangers. Experience exists in the cleaning and polishing of inner tube surfaces with the tube materials:
